Meet Lola!

Today will be my last post for a few days because Bo is getting his wings on Friday!  This accomplishment has been over six years in the making, and I couldn't be prouder of him.  To help celebrate the occasion, Bo's parents our flying in later today.  We plan to spend the remainder of the week, and part of the weekend, enjoying our time with family.  Because we live so far apart from one another, we try to really take advantage of our time together.

As for details of Bo's winging, and everything it took for him to get here, I will leave that to him.  In fact, either later this weekend of early next week you will be receiving a guest post from Bo with all the inside information!  Stay tuned for that sure-to-be-memorable post!

So, back to today's post...

Who is Lola?

And why would you want to meet her?

Well...Lola is the newest addition to the Behne clan that I told you about in this post!  Born on my birthday, January 8th, Lola currently resides in Jacksonville, FL with her mom, dad, and seven brothers and sisters.  She will continue to live with them until Bo and I move to Jacksonville in early March.  Since we don't have our orders yet, we aren't 100% sure when that will be, but we are crossing our fingers for the first week of March!

Seriously, isn't she the cutest thing ever?!  Lola is a purebred Golden Labrador Retriever, and we specifically chose her over the other girl in the litter because she is a little chunkier and has a more golden coat.  Bo and I look at her picture every single day and just "oooo" and "aaaaah"!  We are so excited to be puppy parents!!!

Our plan is to head to Petsmart next weekend to pick up all of the basics that she will need when we first get her.  That way we can pick her up the day after we arrive in Jacksonville, and in the midst of unpacking and settling into our new home, won't have to worry about whether or not we have all of the necessities for our little girl!

See you in a few days! :)

Question of the Day:

What are your thoughts on crate training?  A do?  Or a don't?  If so, where can we find some good resources that teach us about it?

Blessings,
Ally and Bo

  1. I'm so excited for you! We have a new 4-legged edition coming to our family as well. His name is Mozart, he's a few days younger than Lola, and he's a purebred American Bulldog! So funny that this is happening at the same time for us! And WE ARE CRATE TRAINING! In the Shelton family's opinion, it's the only way to go. Mozart will grow to be around 110 lbs (possibly more), so we have to start the obedience and discipline traning EARLY. Having a crate will go such a long way in making sure that we don't have 110lb poops on my rugs! :) Congrats!

  2. I hear ya, Bibi! Lola will end up around 75 lbs., and we also can't afford poop and pee stains on our rugs! I think we are going to start reaching crate-training methods so that we are prepared when she arrives in a couple of weeks :) EEK! I hope that Lola and Mozart can meet up for a play-date soon!

P.S. We are also going to do Basic Obedience Training ASAP!
